Party Foul! Here’s How to Get Red Wine Out of Your Carpet

From there, pour the solution on the stain and use the cloth to blot it until the stain disappears.
• Hydrogen peroxide: Another useful home item if you do not have club soda or white vinegar is hydrogen peroxide. Make a cleaning solution with two parts hydrogen peroxide and one part dishwashing soap. Check for colorfastness on a discreet area on your carpet or rug. If there is no bleeding or discoloration, move on to the next step and apply the solution to the stain. Blot the stain and apply solution repeatedly until you remove the stain completely.
• Commercial products: If you do not want to waste club soda or mix cleaning solutions, there are commercial products designed for the task.
